LISTEN: Connor Zwetsch, 'Candy Bars'

Connor Zwetsch is a child of the '90s. But not just any '90s … the Florida '90s wherein the soundtrack to her childhood came courtesy of pop-rock bands like Matchbox 20 and the New Radicals. Those songs underscored your typical small-town teen adventures. “I grew up in the small suburban town that is Lutz, FL,” Zwetsch recounts. “I spent my youth sneaking out of my house in the middle of the night, roaming the neighborhood with friends, doing things we shouldn’t have been doing. You know, just being kids.”

Now that she has a few years' distance from that time, the singer/songwriter reflects back in a track off her upcoming debut EP, What Comes After. She says, “'Candy Bars' is a song about youth at its finest. Inspired by the joyous and carefree days of my teen years when all I really worried about was companionship and having a good time."

“[It] has a very special place in my heart,” she adds. “I feel guilty even taking credit for writing the lyrics because it effortlessly flowed through me. Luckily, I happened to be lying in bed strumming my guitar when it arrived and, from that, 'Candy Bars' was born.”
